The attorney for Imran Riaz insisted that 17 complaints had been filed against his client, who had been taken into custody within the city limits of Islamabad. This went against a previous court directive. The Punjab police, not the Islamabad police, were arrested in this case, according to Chief Justice Athar Minallah, who noted that the court has previously discussed arrests made in Islamabad.

Chief Justice Athar Minallah ruled that I not be arrested because I don’t want to be killed. However, the Punjabi law minister said that more than 20 FIR had been filed against him in Punjab, leading to his arrest there.
