ISLAMABAD: President Dr. Arif Alvi on Tuesday administered the oath of office to Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi after the Supreme Court declared him the Chief Minister of The province of Punjab, putting down the deputy speaker’s ruling on the election.

The swearing-in ceremony was commanded at the Aiwan-e-Sadr late in the night at 2 am and attended by the leadership of the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid and therefore the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leaders.
Chaudhary Moonis Elahi, Chaudhry Wajahat Hussain, Chaudhary Hussain Elahi, Chaudhry Rasik Elahi, Sheikh Rashid, Fawad Chaudhary, Pervaiz Khatak, Babar Awan, legislator Shibli Faraz, Farrukh Habib, Noor ul Haq Qadri, Ali Zaidi, legislator Azam Swati, leader Main Aslam, legislator Faisal ibn Abdel Aziz al-Saud Javed, Sheharyar Afridi, Shehbaz Gill, and Ameer Mehmood Kiani conjointly witnessed the ceremony.

Earlier, Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, Chief Minister Elect known as on President Dr. Arif Alvi. The President congratulated him on his election as Chief Minister of The province of Punjab.
The oath-taking ceremony was commanded in pursuance of the Supreme Court’s direction contained within the judgment on CP No. twenty-two against the ruling of Deputy Speaker, Punjab Assembly on 22.07.2022 whereby Supreme Court directed the Governor of Punjab to rearrange and administer the oath of office to the petitioner as the punctually electoral Chief Minister Punjab following the law and therefore the Constitution not later than 11:30 pm on i.e. 26.07.2022.
It was expressed that just in case, the Governor of Punjab is unable or unwilling to administer such an oath, the President of Pakistan might Dr. Arif Alvi administered the oath of office to the petitioner as Chief Minister, Punjab.
Pervaiz Elahi flew from Lahore to Islamabad (The Capital of Pakistan) for the swearing-in because the Supreme court had asked the president to administer the oath, just in case the Punjab governor was “unable or unwilling” to take the oath of Chowdhury Pervaiz Elahi as Chief Minister of The province of Punjab.
A three-member bench comprising Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial, Justices Ijazul Ahsan, and Munib Akhtar stricken down Deputy Speaker Dost Muhammad Mazari’s ruling on Punjab chief minister’s election, proclaiming his “understanding and implementation” of Article 63A of the Constitution “incorrect”.

During the election took place on July 22. Deputy Speaker Mazari had set against reckoning the votes of ten PML-Q lawmakers and not counted these ten votes, that were forged in Elahi’s favor, citing a letter written by party President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain within which he had instructed his party’s members to vote for Hamza instead Deputy Speaker Dost Mahomet Mazari conjointly told that he had a private telephonic call with Chowdhury Shoujaat within which Shoujaat told that he instructed his Party members to vote in favor of Hamza Shehbaz.
The deputy speaker’s call that had favored Hamza Shehbaz was reversed by the supreme court in its ruling on Pervaiz Elahi’s petition. Court declared Pervaiz Elahi as Chief Minister of The province of Punjab by reckoning the ten votes of his party members PML-Q.
As directed by the court, the Punjab Chief Secretary issued a notification on Pervaiz Elahi’s election, that browse that resultant upon the order of the Supreme Court of Pakistan under Constitution Petition No. 22 of 2022, dated 26.07.2022 Mr. Pervez Elahi is said duly electoral Chief Minister of the province Punjab with an immediate result.
