Wasiq Qayyum Abbasi took the oath as Punjab Assembly Deputy Speaker

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Wasiq Qayyum Abbasi was an elective unopposed as the Deputy Speaker of the Punjab Assembly on Saturday when nobody from the opposition aspect filed nomination papers.

The Punjab Assembly deputy speaker’s seat fell vacant when Dost Muhammad Mazari was removed through a no-confidence motion submitted by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Punjab Assembly on Saturday morning passed a no-confidence motion against Dost Muhammad Mazari to get rid of him from the workplace as deputy speaker.

Imran Khan and other party leaders severely criticized Mazari for his ruling, the underprivileged Pervaiz Elahi of turning into the chief minister of Punjab when he rejected ten votes from the PML-Q.

Punjab Assembly Secretary Inayatullah Lak told the media that opposition member Pir Ashraf Rasool received four nomination papers from his workplace, however, the opposition parties didn’t submit any nomination papers.

Nomination papers of any member haven’t been submitted within the workplace of the Secretary of the Assembly.

He was aforesaid that per Rule nine (4) of the Provincial Assembly of the province Punjab, they waited until five pm, later the documents were checked at 5:10 pm.

Inayatullah Lak aforesaid members of the treasury benches Syed Yawar Abbas Bukhari, Chaudhry Adnan, Syed Samsam Bukhari, Momina Waheed, Nadeem Abbas Bara, Colonel Malik Muhammad Anwar, Malik Taimur Masood, and different members of the Assembly came to the workplace of the Assembly Secretary alongside Wasiq Qayyum Abbasi to submit the papers.

Earlier, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) MPA Syed Ali Haider Gilani and PML-N MPA Khalil Tahir Sindhu while talking to the media aforesaid that they’re within the court because of the non-transparency of the key ballot within the election of the Speaker of the Punjab Assembly which is why they do not believe the election process of the Deputy Speaker.

According to the Assembly Secretariat, Wasiq Qayyum took the oath in Punjab Assembly’s session to persevere Sunday at 1:00 pm.

Newly elective Punjab Assembly Speaker Sibtain Khan administered the oath to Wasiq Qayyum within the assembly.

It is pertinent to say here that the deputy speaker’s slot fell vacant when a no-trust motion ousted Dost Muhammad Mazari from the workplace.

Wasiq Qayyum Abbasi was elective the deputy speaker of the Punjab Assembly unopposed when no different candidate filed nomination papers for the post.

However, the MPAs of the Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and also the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) didn’t attend the Saturday Punjab Assembly session.

On Saturday, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) submitted a petition with the Lahore High Court (LHC), in which they challenged the Punjab Assembly Speaker’s election and saying it illegal and unconstitutional.

The PML-N candidate leader Saiful Malook Khokhar for Punjab Assembly speaker election in his plea claimed that the election was controlled in associate ‘illegal and unconstitutional manner.

They requested that the court declare the “impugned” election illegal and proclaim the competition to be void.

It is pertinent to say here that Sibtain Khan won one hundred eighty-five votes from the lawmakers from the PTI, the PML-Q and different allies whereas his rival PML-N’s Saiful Malook Khokhar obtained a hundred seventy-five votes within the election and persevered Friday (July 29).
